Hmmm….you think so?
Actual Drudge headline: “POLL: English believe environmental fears being used to raise taxes“.
Glad common sense and a healthy suspicion of government seems to be kicking in at last somewhere in the world.
Government’s goal is, too often, self-perpetuation, and in the hands of some it becomes a means of draconian control of the populace by one means or another (like making it illegal for people to smoke with children in the car). So it is with environmentalism.
Also, this is disturbing at least six ways from Sunday.
Why is anyone whipping up chimeras in order to harvest their said “miracle cells” before killing them? What is this, an MSTK3000 flick pick? Furthermore, at some point those involved in cloning and these human-animal embryos is going to ask why we’re wasting these embryos when they could be grown and other necessary and useful parts harvested. It’s almost a given, don’t you think?
All in the name of humanity and compassion, of course.
Also, while I’m far from an expert on this topic, I must admit to wondering about the stability of embryonic stem cells. Feel free to fill me in.
One last random thought, something to which I may return in order to flesh it out a bit better.
A lot of kids are tattletales. You know, “I’m telling on you!” In fact, I once had a grade-school classmate who was so concerned with making sure her elders knew every possible wrongdoing by anyone in her vicinity she earned the nickname “I’m telling” because for many years, they were probably the most frequent words to fall from her mouth.
Funny how some folks, grownup ones, in our world are like that: a whole mess of people who see something “wrong” – say, people using their cellphone while driving – and want to make intrusive laws and regulations about the wrong thing.
Those who say we live in a perpetually adolescent society may be wrong – maybe it’s a perpetual grade-school society?
Have a great day.
God bless America and Israel; may He guide and protect our troops.
