Why not just institute a no-child policy for everyone, Nan?
STEPHANOPOULOS: Hundreds of millions of dollars to expand family planning services. How is that stimulus?
PELOSI: Well, the family planning services reduce cost. They reduce cost. The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children’s health, education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs. One of those – one of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government.
STEPHANOPOULOS: So no apologies for that?
PELOSI: No apologies. No. We have to deal with the consequences of the downturn in our economy.
That’s your Nancy Pelosi, y’all. Since caring for children costs the state money (and why is any state involved in their health care at all?), the potential for additional children must be eliminated.
While Pelosi’s eagerness to say this out loud is rather shocking, the perspective and thought process should not be. This is who these people are. Look who she just cheerfully ushered into office last week: a man who would rather see an infant born alive after a botched abortion left to die or simply murdered on a cold steel table than provide for it the life-saving medical care it needs and give it a chance to live, or at least die swaddled in a warm blanket.
Remember what one of the biggest differences between the left and right happens to be: the left sees every new life as a burden, as a drag, as a drain; therefore, they hate life. The right, on the other hand, sees each new life as not only a blessing, but a tiny little bundle of boundless potential, brilliance, creativity, and wealth. Thus, abortion truly is the sacrament of the Church of Leftism (along with its cousins environmentalism and population reduction).
Nobody says this better than Jim Quinn:
Allow me to elaborate a little bit on that: When your view of your responsibility to your fellow citizen is to take care of them through government planning and government force, every new person born becomes another mouth to feed, another person to educate, another burden on the state’s resources. If you are a liberal you believe that resources are limited and there is only so much to go around. You see yourself or government policy as the arbiters of who gets what. A conservative understands that new wealth is created every time human creativity acts on a resource and is unlimited. To a conservative, life is a blessing. To a liberal, life is a curse.
There you go. Life, as Pelosi so coldly stated, comes down to nothing more than “cost”. Cost. In a socialist economy, there’s a price on your head. At some point, you’re not going to be “worth” keeping alive anymore. The “consequence” of a struggling economy is that life is too costly, regardless of its inherent promise. How long will it be before we’re told who can and cannot reproduce, and how many children will be allowed per family? Remember, a government that pays for your healthcare owns you, body and soul (as far as they’re concerned).
Somewhat amusingly, Pelosi is trying to pose as someone concerned with fiscal responsibility. Of course, she’s not, not really. The less money we spend on kids, the more they can spend on taking away your liberties and putting toward perpetuating government failure.
Besides, don’t the Democrats hate “big pharma”? If Pelosi really means “birth control” instead of “abortion”, who in the world does she think makes that stuff? Kmart?
Also, I’m still not sure when, if ever, I’ll get over that sneering euphemism, “family planning”. Right.
(Note: I’ve nothing against non-abortifacient contraception. Of course, abortion is not “contraception”; it’s murder.)

SanFranNanGran’s assertion that allocating funds for contraceptives will help the economy is idiotic. I heard the actual soundbyte of this, and she could barely string together a coherent thought. I can’t believe these people are in charge of anything!
She’s such a freaking idiot. More people means more manpower means more economic flow means stronger economy. Less people means less young folks to shoulder more burden from geriatrics fools like herself. What a joke. Maybe she ought to volunteer first for the euthanasia program to stimulate our economy. I for one would be thoroughly stimulated if she were to JUST SHUT UP!
